It all began in 1982 in Sicily, when Salvatore, our founder, a passionate food enthusiast who had travelled across Italy and England, working in hospitality since a teen, had the opportunity to work with the king of "Antipasti" for eight years.
He is the very man depicted in our logo.
During which he learned the ins and outs of creating the perfect products, and acquired his passion for the craft.
In 1991, Salvatore and his wife Tiziana moved to a small suburb of London where they began introducing these delicacies to the UK market. Salvatore's dream of making his high-quality products known abroad came to fruition, and the company's reputation for excellence began to grow.
In the early days of Sapori D'Italia Pesto, the UK was the primary market. However, Salvatore, had bigger dreams for his business. He envisioned expanding the brand beyond the UK and into other parts of Europe and even the world.
It was a bold move, but Salvatore was confident in the quality of his product and the potential for growth.
As demand for Sapori D'Italia's delicacies continued to increase, it became clear that the company needed a larger production site. Salvatore and his team decided to invest in creating a new structure, one that would specialise in producing fresh Pesto in the heart of Liguria: the home of Pesto. The new site was state-of-the-art, and covered an impressive 2900 sqm.
With the new production site in place, back in Salvatore's motherland, Sapori D'Italia was able to meet the growing demand for their products, while maintaining the high quality that their customers had come to expect. It was a pivotal moment for the company, and one that would set the stage for future growth and success.
Being situated near the P.D.O. Genovese Basil fields is a key factor in ensuring the best quality and freshness of the main ingredient, making it truly possible to adhere to the "from farm to fork" concept.
Thanks to this strategic location, the company has been able to partner and be involved in the basil harvest, following the the creation of our Pesto every step of the way, form start to finish.
